Gather Around – Issue 10 – April 2020.

29 April 2020

As coronavirus measures of social distancing and working from home become ‘the new normal’, much of the corporate news is still dominated by the pandemic. This month sees additional guidance from regulators and firms on corporate governance amidst the disruption, with a particular focus on conducting virtual meetings as we enter a challenging AGM season.

Corporate purpose continues to be a hot topic, as investors echo the desire within wider society to see companies act fairly and responsibly with regard to all their stakeholders in this time of crisis. In reporting news, the last of the December 2019 year-end reports are being released. Among these is Glencore’s annual report, featured in last month’s emerging practice showcase for their section 172 statement. This issue looks at the report from a different angle, highlighting how clear navigation and communication can elevate the quality of an annual report.
