Gather Around – Issue 13 – July 2020.

29 July 2020

Covid-19 continues to be at the forefront of minds with the publication of the FRC’s first Covid-19 thematic review. Happily, one of our clients, Assura, has been included in the review as an example of ‘better disclosure’.

Audit is back in the spotlight with the news of mandatory operational separation of the Big Four’s audit practices by 2024. Following on from our recent ESEF update, more uncertainty is on the horizon with the FCA launching a consultation on possibly delaying the mandatory effective date of ESEF and XBRL reporting by 12 months to 2021. The consultation is open for comments until 28 August 2020 so would expect an update early in Q4.

For this month’s best practice showcase, we take a look at Assura’s 2020 annual report as an example of how to create clear and compelling narratives around purpose and a responsible business strategy.

The newsletter will be taking a break over August when regulatory activity typically quietens down, so we will be back in September with all the latest developments.

Please get in touch with Will Davenport at will@gather.london if you are interested in receiving a copy of the newsletter.
