Gather Around – Issue 21 – April 2021

30 April 2021

April has been a relatively quiet month following the publication of the BEIS white paper on audit and governance reform last month. This month the FRC has published its 2021/22 strategy which sets out its roadmap of transformation towards the new regulator, ARGA.
In sustainability news, a survey by the Chartered Governance Institute reveals, perhaps unsurprisingly, ESG to be a top priority for governance professionals this year. The Treasury Committee has also released a report this month containing a number of recommendations for the Government’s Green Finance Strategy ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in November this year.
For this month’s best practice showcase, we take a look at Fresnillo’s 2020 annual report as an example of good reporting on culture and workforce engagement following the FRC’s Review of Corporate Governance Reporting published in November 2020.

In other news, we are delighted to share that Mei Ashelford FRC BBA, Director of reporting intelligence has been appointed to the FRC’s Advisory Panel. Members of the Advisory Panel will be called on to provide expert advice across the breadth of the FRC’s regulatory activities. If you would like to hear our views on the FRC’s Future of Corporate Reporting discussion paper, Sarah Wood (Director of digital) and Mei Ashelford  have written an article available on the Gather website. Do get in touch if you would like a 1-2-1 session with us to discuss how this affects you and what you might do to get ahead.
