Gather Around – Issue 26 – October 2021

2 November 2021

The regulatory landscape is complex and evolving. Every month we bring you the latest developments in regulation and ‘best practice’ in corporate governance and reporting.

This month the Financial Reporting Council published its Annual Review of Corporate Reporting, identifying the areas of reporting where companies need to improve, and providing some useful guidance across the annual report.

At the same time, the regulator continues to provide guidance on ESEF, with the latest Financial Reporting Lab report providing tips on common ESEF reporting errors and the issuing of the 2022 FRC Taxonomies suite.

Meanwhile, as the COP26 climate summit is in full swing, the Government aims to position the UK as a centre for sustainable finance, publishing a report on proposed new Sustainability Disclosure Standards as a part of the Green Finance Strategy.

For this month’s best practice showcase, we take a look at how Severn Trent set their remuneration reporting apart from the rest of the shortlist to win a PwC Building Public Trust Award in Remuneration Reporting in the FTSE 350 this month.
