Gather Around – Issue 30 – February 2022

3 March 2022

The regulatory landscape is complex and evolving. Every month we bring you the latest developments in regulation and ‘best practice’ in corporate governance and reporting.

This month saw Mei Ashelford, our Director of Reporting Intelligence participate in her first meeting as a member of the FRC’s Advisory Panel. With the Government’s new climate-related financial disclosures regulation being made in January, Mei was invited to advise the FRC on how the new requirements could be integrated into the 2018 Guidance on the Strategic Report. Read more in our first main story. We are also excited to announce that we will be releasing a series of six best practice guides over the course of this year, providing practical tips on how to improve your reporting on key topics across the annual report. The first will be on governance reporting and will published in March. Read more in the Gather News section.

In other news, the march to the development of global sustainability standards continues as the International Sustainability Standards Board looks to appoint 12 members to its newly formed board, and a group of cross-party MPs have called for the Government to introduce mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting. The FRC has also published research into the perspectives of Audit Committee Chairs on audit quality. For this month’s best practice showcase, we take a look at Lloyds Banking Group’s diversity reporting in its 2020 annual report.
