Digital is a key component of most briefs across the agency and the digital function itself is rapidly growing. As a result we are stepping up our processes and ways of doing things to adapt to this joined up way of working and expand our capability.

The Role

This is a senior role working alongside the Director of digital to deliver digital projects with excellence, to champion digital across the agency and grow and optimise the digital function.

A strategist by focus you love to own it and go above and beyond to help define big digital activity for corporate clients – websites, reporting and more.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic lead – finding astute ways to stretch the ambition and potential of projects without compromising budgets and schedules.
  • Win new business – proactively leading on, contributing and presenting compelling digital pitches and project proposals.
  • Building client relationships – be their go-to strategic counsel and partner for digital.Interrogate and translate client objectives to defining a project roadmap and approach that is inventive, creative and smart which delivers measurable business impact. Spot organic opportunities for growth.
  • Oversee projects and lead the team – guiding the project managers, client service, creative, IA and technical teams on the brief, scope and what success looks like. Setting the vision for the work and ensuring all documentation and outputs across the process meet this vision. Getting the right balance of ambition and commercial pragmatism.
  • Department development and champion – Working alongside the Director of Digital to grow the function and make it sector leading, with the autonomy to define, set-up and lead new ways to make us more creative, more effective and more flexible for our clients. Champion digital best practice and mentor teams to increase digital understanding and potential across the agency.

Skills

  • Digital communications strategy – interrogating and drafting briefs, defining the approach and solutions. Be able to define the experience and content strategies, content planning for corporate websites and digital annual reports and comms strategies for wider social media and comms engagement.
  • Research and insight – be equipped with a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand a need and opportunity e.g. benchmarking, audits, stakeholder requirements gathering interviews, surveys and workshops, persona and user journey development. Be able to seek out and assess data. To combine inputs to extract meaningful and differentiating insight.
  • An understanding of UX and able to brief and oversee the UX team.
  • Performance measurement and optimisation able to extract and interpret analytics and have an eye for continuous improvement and learning.
  • Compelling communicator, confident presenter and workshop facilitator. Is a master at crafting convincing briefs and presentations and getting the most from people in the room.
  • Technically savvy, CMS literate, comfortable reviewing functional specs.

Our ‘nice to have’s’ and/or additional specialisms would be:

  • The ability to undertake UX for smaller projects independently.
  • Deeper experience of data analytics (Google), user testing and analysis and SEO reporting and how these can drive insights and recommendations for optimisation of website UX and content.
  • Experience of social media listening tools, methodologies and analysis.

Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience as a digital communications strategist.
  • Experience of corporate websites and/or B2B digital comms (required).
  • Experience of online corporate reporting (required).
  • Social media and broader digital comms experience (desirable).
  • Sustainability knowledge (helpful – this is another growth area in the business that the digital team often has to support on).
  • Understanding / knowledge of the print reporting process (helpful – this is a big part of our business so will help you understand the team).

  • Campaignable reporting and broader digital comms (ie social media).
