Gather Around – Issue 27 – November 2021

3 December 2021

The regulatory landscape is complex and evolving. Every month we bring you the latest developments in regulation and ‘best practice’ in corporate governance and reporting.
Following the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, regulators and standard setters are responding to another boost to the ESG agenda. The formation of the ISSB represents a landmark step towards international sustainability standards, while progress continues on the UK Government’s green finance strategy, with a BEIS responding to feedback from its consultation on expanding the scope of mandatory TCFD disclosures and the release of an FCA discussion paper on proposed sustainability disclosure requirements.

In other news, the FRC has published two reports: its Annual Review of Corporate Governance Reporting, reviewing the quality of reporting against the UK Corporate Governance Code and the first review of reporting from signatories of the revised UK Stewardship Code.

For this month’s best practice showcase, we take a look at Cairn Energy’s 2020 annual report, a highly commended entry for Risk Disclosure of the Year at the Chartered Governance Institute Awards.
