The Role

Gather is looking for an experienced Design Director to join its growing creative team. You will be a creative storyteller, able to take a brief and translate it into bold, engaging ideas for integrated and strategic corporate communications across print and digital. With a strong background in corporate reporting, you will have a genuine interest in telling corporate stories that compel and engage stakeholder audiences. Working closely with our director of reporting intelligence and creative director you will ensure creativity and content are on message and on brief.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand creative briefs with the ability to distil the key objectives from the client into creative solutions that translate across numerous platforms, in particular annual and ESG reports
• Develop robust initial concepts using a range of applications, taking them through to successful design development
• Clearly articulate creative ideas in client meetings
• Deliver high quality creative work as part of the creative team
• Take responsibility for creative challenges and be self-sufficient
• Manage a team of junior designers. Brief them on collaborative work, encourage and support and guide their ideas, mentoring them towards greater self-sufficiency
• Create design files that can easily be turned into production files
• Create infographics, commission photography and illustration concepts to answer the brief and budget
• Work closely with account management and production teams to implement amends and feedback
• Help to create presentations for new business and existing clients

Skills and Knowledge:

• At least 7+ years’ experience, as a senior designer or design director, a strong corporate creative, able to demonstrate high level strategic, creative thinking
• Ability to lead a team and mentor and coach others
• Keeps abreast of the industry, as well as innovative digital comms and experiences, relishes pushing the boundaries and trying something new
• Broad understanding of latest reporting regulations and best practice trends
• Collaborative and approachable, easy to work with and thrives in a team environment
• Excellent attention to detail, a strong client service ethic
• A can-do attitude, flexible and positive, a team player
